Paul van Dyk remixes Energy 52’s Ibiza anthem ‘Cafe Del Mar’: Listen
Paul van Dyk has remixed Energy 52’s Ibiza trance anthem, ‘Cafe Del Mar’.
The track, named after the iconic White Island sunset hangout, was first released in 1993, but it wasn’t until later in the decade that it achieved real recognition. The seminal Three ‘N One (1997) and Nalin & Kane (1998) versions are arguably the best known, although Marco V (2002), deadmau5 (2008), and Tale of Us (2018) are all noteworthy in their own right.
Now van Dyk has turned his hands to the euphoric epic with two new interpretations, namely the ‘XOXO’ and ‘Shine’ remixes. Respectively emphasising the melodic and flowing, and high energy elements of the tune, the latter is aimed squarely at peak time club nights, taking its title from the Ibiza trance session of the same name.
The reworked tracks also usher in a new lease of life for the seminal Superstition Records imprint, which relaunches with this release. It ran from 1993 until 2003 and is widely regarded as one of the most important hard house, trance, and tech labels of its time. Last year van Dyk unveiled his tenth album, ‘Guiding Light‘, alongside the ambient record, ‘Escape Reality‘.
