Gorillaz announce new art book featuring Robert Smith, Jack Black, more
Gorillaz are releasing a coffee table art book to mark the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.
‘The Gorillaz Art Book’ spans 288 page, and sees the band’s creator Jamie Hewlett team up with Z2 Comics to include “new interpretations” of the virtual group by a number of artists, including The Cure’s Robert Smith, Jack Black and Hewlett himself. There are also contributions from The Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken, Adventure Time artist Erik Fountain and Buffy the Vampire Slayer cartoonist Marianna Ignazzi.
“Gorillaz have always collaborated with music, but this is the first time we’ve done an art collaboration,” said Hewlett in a statement. “I’ve really enjoyed working with so many of my favorite artists and the result is this amazing book.”
The book will be published in April 2022. Find more information here.
A live performance of Gorillaz’ ‘Song Machine’ was screened in worldwide cinemas earlier this week.
It was also recently announced that Gorillaz would be headlining next year’s All Points East in London.
