Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds cancel shows in Russia and Ukraine
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week, the band have pulled out of their upcoming dates in the two countries.
In a statement shared on social media yesterday (1 March) the group have announced they will no longer be playing their scheduled dates this summer in solidarity with Ukraine.
“In light of current events, we have no choice but to cancel our shows in Russia and Ukraine which were due to take place this summer,” the statement reads. “Our thoughts and love go out to the brave people of Ukraine, their heroic leader, and all those suffering from this senseless war.”
Continuing, the band state: “Ukraine, we stand with you, and with all those in Russia who oppose this brutal act, and we pray that this madness is brought to a close soon.”
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were set to appear at Bol Festival in Russia on 18 June, with a show at the Palace of Sports in Kyiv lined up for 19 August. Other artists including HEALTH, Iggy Pop and Green Day have also pulled out of upcoming tour dates in the wake of the ongoing conflict.
