UBUNTU by Bridges for Music to bring Afro house, Afrobeats and amapiano to EDC Las Vegas
Bridges for Music, the non-profit that works to empower young people from under-served communities, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with EDC Las Vegas.
The collaboration will see a stage UBUNTU by Bridges for Music held at the flagship Electric Daisy Carnival event this weekend, May 16 to 18, bringing a full line-up of music from Africa and its diaspora to each day of the festival.
21 artists are on the bill, including Eswatini amapiano powerhouse Uncle Waffles, South Affrican gqom pioneer DJ Lag (pictured) and Afro house icons Da Capo and Kasango, Nigerian Afrobeats super-producer Sarz, Zambian-Scottish rising star KILIMANJARO, London linchpin Kitty Amor, NewYork-based South African-Guinean DJ AQUTIE, and more.
The stage takes its name from the Bantu African philsohopy of ubuntu, which relates to shared humanity and responsibility to each other.
Valentino Barrioseta, founder of Bridges for Music, said: “This partnership between EDC and Bridges for Music is more than music, it’s about impact and community and the ripple effects will be felt far away from Las Vegas, on a grass root level ”
“We’ve witnessed across the continent how music can be a catalyst for transformation. The artists on the line up are leading this transformation showing the next generation what’s possible”.
