RISE Festival Is Celebrating 10 Years Of Magic With Music’s Biggest Names

RISE Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary, but it’s never looked like this.

Known for its ceremonious release of tens of thousands of paper lanterns in the Mojave Desert, the three-day event and its interactive art colossus have turned heads since its launch in 2014. But for the festival’s decade celebration this fall, in addition to the eye-catching spectacle, for the first time in its history, RISE will also have ear-catching tunes from some of the biggest names in music.

Returning to Nevada’s Jean Dry Lake Bed, located about 20 miles southwest of Las Vegas, from October 3-5, the nonprofit event will fuse its ethos of transformative art with the sounds of famed dance headliners RÜFÜS DU SOL, Calvin Harris, and Disclosure, and prolific singer-songwriter John Mayer, supported by an eclectic cast of other leading musicians whose performances conjure up similarly cinematic feels.

Other hotly tipped performances will come from deep house talents Ben Böhmer, LP Giobbi, Oliver Heldens, Elderbrook, Emmit Fenn, and Coco & Breezy, alongside jam rock sensations Goose, and indie trailblazers like Forester, Patrick Watson, and City of the Sun, among others. Matching the moment with a first-of-its-kind festival stage, RISE’s musical performances will be held on “the Horizon,” a new panoramic stage stretching more than 200 feet wide. Equipped with 18 separate hi-res screens and anchored by 12 stadium towers, the stage is designed to hold thousands while preserving the beauty of the surrounding desert, according to a press release.

But before the party begins, RISE invites guests on a three-part journey through three main festival areas, each designed to amaze and uplift in a different way. Attendees are first welcomed to wander “the Path,” described as a meditative daytime journey through large-scale art installations and chill spaces, while at nightfall, they’ll then gather at “the Compass” for a moment of collective release during the famous sky lantern ritual.
