Burning Man Attendee Electrocuted, Airlifted After Standing in Floodwater

Storm churned Black Rock City saw yet another emergency this week! During a Tuesday evening storm a Burning Man attendee was partially electrocuted while standing in floodwater, and had to be airlifted to a trauma center per the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office

Organizers’ Warnings: Burning Man’s official weather and traffic dashboard and X account issued urgent safety advisories: “Keep all cables, plugs, and generators dry and covered. Elevate connections and seal them with electrical tape. Never run a generator or powered gear sitting in water.” They also instructed attendees not to drive in flooded conditions.

Organizers Under Pressure, Again

This incident adds to a pattern we reported earlier this week: storm damage, camp destructions, long traffic delays, and organizer responses rooted in urgency and safety protocols. Despite that, attendees’ resilience shined through.
