The Quest Returns with ‘Round Trip’ on In Trance We Trust
The Quest is back. 27 years after the release of ‘C Sharp’, the epic trance cut whose iconic melody went on to inspire dozens of remixes and reinterpretations, Benno de Goeij and his longtime partner Piet Bervoets are reviving one of their most quietly influential projects. Notably, the pair have unveiled ‘Round Trip’, the new The Quest single arriving this Friday via In Trance We Trust.
Following the 1999 debut of ‘C Sharp’, Benno de Goeij never pursued the solo project with any particular intensity. Consequently, that first chapter was left to establish itself as a genuine piece of trance history. However, in recent times, Benno had hinted at a renewed burst of creative energy in the studio, including alongside Piet Bervoets. It was around this very setup that he announced The Quest’s return.
Built around 140 BPM, ‘Round Trip’ makes no compromises when it comes to its classic trance identity. A continuous synth line sits at the heart of the composition. It constantly moves between ascending and descending notes, creating a progression that feels both deeply nostalgic and unmistakably electronic. Meanwhile, the record reads as a tribute to Benno’s mastery of the keyboards. In turn, it pays homage to the sound and spirit of the past.
Just as ‘C Sharp’ did back in 1999, ‘Round Trip’ is being released on In Trance We Trust. As a result, the return closes a symbolic loop for one of Dutch trance’s most respected label homes. Beyond that, this reunion sits inside a broader wave of trance-legacy energy across 2026. Recently, WRY also covered Andrew Rayel‘s historic Find Your Harmony 500.
