ATB anthem ‘9 PM (Till I Come)’ turns 26 years old

As he was transitioning to a solo project, André Tanneberger, better known as ATB, delivered an iconic single to kick off his new direction. Now 26 years later, electronic music fans around the world continue to celebrate and enjoy the rhythms of 9 PM (Till I Come).

Released in October 1998, ATB found immediate success with 9 PM (Till I Come), the first single from his debut album Movin’ Melodies. Comprised of a synthesizer guitar hook and sultry vocals from model Yolanda Rivera, it quickly climbed the charts, topping the UK and Irish singles charts respectively. The track itself was created while ATB was on a date with a girl when she asked him how he produced his music. Despite having plans to see a movie, they toured the studio, and the initial hook was created. While developing the track, it was simply labeled ‘9 PM’ in reference to when the couple left the studio to resume their date night.

Now 26 years later, the track continues to serve as a staple of the trance music world and a landmark single for ATB. While he continued to explore and develop new styles and sounds in the years since his early works certainly provided a powerful foundation for his career. Revisiting 9 PM (Till I Come) reveals a track that continues to stay fresh and engaging. The infectious melody of the lead synth combined with Rivera’s incredible vocal performance has made this a timeless classic.
