Björk, Groove Armada and more to headline this year’s Bluedot Festival
India Jordan, Sofia Kourtesis and Manara are among the other artists confirmed for the Cheshire festival.
Bluedot Festival, the music, science and culture event staged at Cheshire’s Jodrell Bank Observatory, returns this July for its fifth edition.
For 2022, the festival has lined up headline performances from Björk, Groove Armada, Metronomy, Hannah Peel and Mogwai. Björk will perform on the Sunday alongside the Hallé Orchestra. Her set, which will be a festive exclusive, will also feature a bespoke visual element that involves video and animation being projected onto the 76-metre wide Lovell Telescope.
The Icelandic star has previously said that her forthcoming album may released this summer, which means it could align with her Bluedot appearance.
Elsewhere, artists such as India Jordan, Sofia Kourtesis, Manara, Kelly Lee Owens, Yard Act and Squarepusher have also been confirmed for this year’s event.
The festival has also announced its culture and science line-ups. The culture programme features screenings, stand-up performances and more, presented by the likes of Stewart Lee, Lolly Adefoge and Adam Buxton. Radio 4’s The Life Scientific Professor Jim Al-Khalili, British historian and filmmaker David Olusoga and space scientist Monica Grady are among the key speakers locked in for the science programme.
Bluedot Festival takes place on 21-24 July. Visit the festival’s site for tickets and revisit the Björk cover story.
