Deceptaconz Brings the Club-Ready Trap for ‘I Got What You Want’
The Evolution of a Signature Sound
Bradford Smith, known to the electronic music world as Deceptaconz, has carved out a distinct niche as a full-time independent music producer and DJ. Hailing from Indiana, Smith has spent years honing a hard-hitting, electrifying sound that defies easy categorization. His journey has taken him from local stages in Fort Wayne to the vibrant nightlife of Las Vegas, where he has gained significant notoriety for his live performances featuring the Human Drum Machine (HDM).
Deceptaconz’s musical repertoire is vast, spanning Hip-Hop, Pop, EDM, Trap, R&B, Rock, Gospel, Country, and Soul. This versatility has allowed him to collaborate with industry heavyweights, including Grammy-nominated artists like Fatman Scoop, King Louie, and Killer Mike. Beyond the club circuit, his work has permeated television, commercials, and independent film, cementing his reputation as a producer with universal appeal.
‘I Got What You Want’: A Collaborative Force
Today, we spotlight his latest release, ‘I Got What You Want,’ a track that serves as a masterclass in club-ready trap production. Featuring long-time collaborator and rapper EMC Scotty, the track is designed to ignite dance floors with its infectious energy and sharp lyrical delivery.

The Creative Process and the Human Drum Machine
Reflecting on the project’s origins, Smith notes that the foundation was laid in the post-COVID era. While he was busy producing for various other artists, the collaboration with HDM felt like a natural progression. “HDM is an old friend of mine and he plays percussion on a lot of tracks I produce,” Smith explains. “So for HDM to join Deceptaconz was natural. Also, the reason why he wears a full mask is because he was abducted by aliens.”

Reflections on the Industry
When asked about his favorite moments in the industry, Smith points to his time touring with DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia and the production of “Bottle Poppa” alongside Fatman Scoop and KnowleDJ. For live sets, he relies on a combination of CDJ and MPC equipment, while HDM utilizes an Alesis Percussion Pad to bring the rhythm to life.
Developing ‘I Got What You Want’
The development of his latest single was a swift, collaborative effort. Smith recalls, “When I chopped up the melody, I called EMC Scotty to the studio. We came up with the hook together, and she wrote her verse in 15 minutes.” The two have a long-standing creative relationship, having met through a mutual songwriter friend while Scotty was working with DJ Kay Slay.

Looking Ahead
Beyond his own projects, Smith remains deeply involved in the broader musical landscape, producing for gospel artists like Allegro Nevella and keeping a pulse on the underground hip-hop scene. As for the future, fans can look forward to a new collaboration titled “We Outside,” dropping in May with Don P from Trillville. With a performance scheduled for EDC Las Vegas, Deceptaconz continues to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with in the trap and electronic music spheres.
