DJ Awards 2024 Unveil Nominees & Industry Honors
Date: 02/10/24 | Location: Club Chinois | Voting & Instagram
The DJ Awards are back with a bang, marking their return after a four-year hiatus with the 23rd edition set to take place at Club Chinois on October 2nd, 2024. This iconic event, often dubbed the “Oscars of electronic dance music“, is poised to celebrate the cream of the crop across various genres, from house to techno, trance to drum & bass, and everything in between.
After being on pause since 2019, the DJ Awards will once again bring together the global dance music community in Ibiza, a place synonymous with electronic music culture. The event’s return promises to be a historic celebration, not only because of its legacy but also due to its revitalized format under new ownership, which brings fresh energy and a significant investment into the mix.
Nominees and Voting Details
The list of nominees for this year’s awards has been carefully curated by an independent panel, ensuring a fair and comprehensive representation of the diverse world of electronic music. Categories include long-standing pillars like house, tech house, and trance, alongside newer and increasingly popular genres such as organic house and afro. The “International DJ and Live Act” categories will spotlight the most influential and exciting names in the scene today, while the “Breakthrough” category is dedicated to recognizing the freshest talent making waves since the last awards ceremony.
Public voting is now open, allowing fans from around the world to have their say until September 13th, 2024. Every vote cast will enter voters into a prize draw for a VIP experience in Ibiza, worth €10,000, making participation all the more enticing.
Industry Awards and Special Recognitions
Beyond the artist categories, the DJ Awards will also spotlight key industry players with a selection of “Industry Awards“. These accolades will be decided by professionals from the Association For Electronic Music (AFEM) and will feature both global and Ibiza-focused awards. Categories like “Global Festival“, “Outstanding Global Tour“, and “Most Memorable Dance Floor Moment” will highlight those who have made significant contributions to the electronic music landscape.
The Ibiza-specific awards will pay homage to the island’s enduring influence on the global dance scene, with honors like “Ibiza Track of The Summer“, “Ibiza Icon“, and “Ibiza Party of The Summer” set to be fiercely contested.
a Celebration of Unity
This year’s theme, “Unity“, resonates deeply with the core of dance music culture. It’s a call to bring people together, transcending borders and backgrounds through the universal language of music. In line with this theme, the DJ Awards have introduced the “Best Dancefloor Memory” competition, inviting fans to share their most unforgettable moments on Instagram. One lucky participant will be selected to receive an authentic DJ Award in Ibiza, creating a lifelong memory of their own.
Says Andy Grant, new owner of DJ Awards;
“Music has power – the power to unite us, to cheer us up, to give us the chills, to instantly remind us of a long lost memory, to create a vibe, to set a mood, or to even motivate change. That is why we have chosen the theme of Unity for the DJ Awards 2024 reboot with the launch of our Best Dancefloor Memory user generated competition which will see everyone everywhere share their top memories via Instagram, tagging @thedjawards and our panel of judges will select someone from any corner of the globe to come to Ibiza and collect a genuine DJ Award that they can keep on the mantelpiece forever.“
The Road to October 2nd, 2024
As the countdown begins, anticipation builds for what promises to be an unforgettable night. The DJ Awards 2024 will not only honor the pioneers and innovators of the past few years but also set the stage for the future of electronic music. With a renewed vision and a focus on inclusivity, the event is set to be a landmark moment in the global dance music calendar.
