HEDD Audio Releases CTRL for Full MK2 Monitor Management

HEDD Audio; who created the Hedd Type 07 A-Core Monitors, which recently took home an editor’s choice award, has released CTRL, a dedicated software system that brings centralized control, calibration tools, and workflow management to all MK2 monitors and BASS subwoofers. The platform gives engineers a single place to manage tuning, alignment, and system behavior across stereo, 2.1, surround, and immersive setups.

CTRL builds on the MK2 hardware line by turning every available parameter into a direct, user-driven control inside one interface. Engineers gain full visibility of EQ, CoP modes, phase tools, latency settings, gain structure, and monitor behavior from the listening position.

System Management From One Interface

CTRL organizes all MK2 and BASS devices into a unified control panel accessible through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Users can identify devices, group speakers, set naming conventions, mute or solo individual monitors, and manage firmware updates.

Calibration tools include a 10-band parametric EQ for each speaker and each group, along with per-speaker delay for alignment. This supports accurate timing across small rooms, larger control rooms, and immersive rigs with complex layouts. The system scales up to 250 speakers, which positions CTRL for both studio and post-production rooms with expanded channel counts.

Satellite and subwoofer relationships can be refined through crossover optimization, and users can store and recall setups for different workflows or listening positions.

Phase, Latency, and System Behavior

CTRL includes direct control of the HEDD Lineariser, which provides phase alignment for critical listening. Users can switch between linear-phase and low-latency modes depending on the task. This allows tracking, editing, and mix work to remain consistent without changing monitor hardware or repositioning speakers.

CoP (Closed or Ported) modes are also accessible inside CTRL. This gives engineers two acoustic behaviors within each monitor and allows the system to adapt to room needs or personal workflow requirements.

Additional functions include shelving filters, desktop filters, bass extension, subwoofer controls, input selection, gain structure, and standby modes.

Built for Modern Studio Requirements

CTRL is a long-term platform for the full MK2 line. Since it runs as software, HEDD can expand its capabilities through updates without altering the hardware. Users who already own MK2 monitors or BASS subwoofers can download CTRL at no cost.

By centralizing monitor behavior, calibration, and workflow management in one environment, CTRL provides a predictable way to maintain accuracy across different rooms, formats, and production needs.
