Japan’s rural Festival 2026: First Artist Announcement

Located in the scenic Numajiri Highlands of Fukushima, the outdoor music festival rural 2026 is set to return for its third year at this unique site. The event will span four days, from July 17 to July 20, 2026, offering a curated experience that bridges the gap between techno, house, and experimental electronic music.

First Artist Announcement

The festival has unveiled its first wave of performers, headlined by the globally celebrated duo Willikens & Ivkovic. Comprised of Lena Willikens and Vladimir Ivkovic, the pair are widely regarded as “DJ’s DJs,” known for their profound influence on electronic music culture. Having previously performed at the festival as solo acts, their collaborative set is highly anticipated.

The lineup also features the Japan debut of UK-based artist Al Wootton, who will showcase his signature low-end-focused rhythms through both a live performance and a DJ set. Further international talent includes NDRX from Georgia’s BASSIANI, the psychedelic-leaning Spekki Webu in a B2B set with OCCA, and the compelling Taipei-based talent YuY.

Representing Japan’s domestic scene, YAMA will make his first appearance at the festival, joined by YAMARCHY, SAMO, and LEVOLANT, all of whom are instrumental in connecting the local scene with broader Asian and global electronic movements.

Sound and Immersive Experience

Sound quality remains a cornerstone of the rural experience. In 2026, the outdoor stage will feature a Void Acoustics system, while the indoor stage will be powered by Danley Sound Labs. Beyond the music, the festival leverages its location at the foot of Mount Adatara, providing attendees access to natural hot springs at the adjacent Numajiri Kogen Lodge.

The festival also offers unique programming, including an “Extreme Onsen Tour” and a variety of local food and beverage vendors. With options for rental tents, auto camping, and extended-stay packages, the event is designed to be an immersive, multi-day retreat into nature.

Access and Tickets

The venue is accessible via a 3.5-hour drive from central Tokyo or a 4-hour official tour bus journey from Shibuya. Tickets for the 4-day pass are currently available, with 3-day and 2-day passes scheduled for release in April.
