Lil Wayne refused entry to the UK to play Strawberries & Creem festival

The rapper was set to headline the festival in Cambridge this weekend.

Strawberries & Creem festival shared the news in a social media post yesterday (15 June). “Due to extreme circumstances beyond our control or influence, we are very sorry to inform you that Lil Wayne is now unable to perform at the festival on Saturday 18th June,” they wrote. “Lil Wayne has been refused entry to the UK directly by the Home Office in a last minute decision,” the statement continued. “We are deeply disappointed by this sudden and negative ruling.”

The exclusive performance was set to be Lil Wayne’s first UK appearance in 14 years. In his place, the event organisers have announced that Ludacris will now be headlining the Saturday of the festival instead.

Lil Wayne has previously been denied entry to the UK on the basis of prior criminal convictions, which resulted in the US rapper having to cancel his 2011 UK tour.
