Mike Nasty Fuses Jazz and House on New Album “Sketches in Deep”

Radiating with soul, groove, and pure musical joy, label head Mike Nasty returns home to Nasty Tracks with his new album “Sketches in Deep“, a kaleidoscopic journey through house music’s most expressive corners. Set against a backdrop of uplifting pianos, soaring harmonies, and infectious rhythms, the record feels like both a homecoming and a new beginning, blending deep-rooted tradition with boundless creative energy.

Mike Nasty’s music has always carried an unmistakable spirit, a rare balance between technical depth and emotional honesty. His sound, deeply anchored in house, moves freely between jazz, soul, and broken beat, tracing invisible threads between rhythm and reflection. Each record feels like a page torn from his own sketchbook: stories of nights that never end, dancefloors that feel like sanctuaries, and melodies that stay with you long after the lights fade.

Across “Sketches in Deep”, Mike continues his exploration of sound as emotion. “Jazz Flower” opens the record in full bloom, as pianos shimmer under moonlight, horns glisten with purpose, and a steady groove keeps the energy flowing. “Passion” follows with smooth, tactile keys and a breathtaking solo that pours warmth into every bar. On “Sing Your Praise,” the spirit of house becomes transcendent, led by glowing vocal harmonies that lift the soul higher with every chorus.

Elsewhere, “Jungle” dives into propulsive, progressive rhythms, while “Cooper Tones” loosens the edges, letting broken beats and meandering piano lines evoke quiet reflection. “Nocturne” closes the circle, its bass-driven pulse carrying waves of luminous instrumentation before the dub version of “Sing Your Praise” brings us home glowing, grateful, and renewed.

“With ‘Sketches in Deep’,” says Mike, “I wanted to explore what modern jazz fused with dance music would sound like in 2025. This project is my interpretation of how the soulful improvisation of jazz can coexist with the rhythm and pulse of electronic music. It’s a journey through deep textures, live instrumentation, and hypnotic grooves — blending classic musicianship with modern club energy. Each track is like a sketch, a moment captured in sound — from late-night sessions to introspective mornings. It reflects my roots as a DJ and producer who grew up on jazz, funk, gospel, R&B, etc, and how those worlds continue to inspire me today. Sketches in Deep is about emotion, rhythm, and storytelling — the connection between the dance floor and the spirit.”

Set to please both fans of both jazz and house music, “Sketches in Deep” is out now. We think you’ll enjoy it.
