MUTEK Montréal Reveals Final Music Program for 27th Edition
The International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music, MUTEK, has officially revealed the artists confirmed for its 27th edition, scheduled to take place from August 25–30, 2026, in Montréal. This year’s program promises a deep exploration of electronic music, blending the work of industry pioneers with bold, emerging voices.
A Multi-Venue Sonic Experience
MUTEK’s unique format continues to utilize the city’s vibrant Quartier des spectacles, with performances tailored to specific acoustic environments. The festival will feature a free outdoor program at the esplanade Tranquille, immersive works at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), and high-energy dancefloor sessions at MTELUS. A significant addition this year is the Maison symphonique, a venue renowned for its architectural and acoustic precision, which will host several major performances.
“The Maison symphonique opens up a new dimension for MUTEK: a monumental listening space where works take on an almost cinematic scale,” says Alain Mongeau, Executive Co-director and Artistic Director of MUTEK. “This 27th edition places an even stronger emphasis on live performance and on a walkable festival circuit.”
Pioneers and Contemporary Rituals
The lineup highlights artists who continue to push the boundaries of the genre. Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills is set to present the North American premiere of Stargate, an immersive performance inspired by science fiction. Meanwhile, Fennesz and Lillevan will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the seminal album Endless Summer. Other notable performances include A Guy Called Gerald, who will perform his jungle classic Black Secret Technology, and Matthew Herbert, who returns to the festival with a new work addressing food insecurity.
The festival also explores the concept of “new rituals” in electronic music. The Japanese collective ELECTRONICOS FANTASTICOS!, led by Ei Wada, will transform electronic waste into functional instruments, while Tristan Perich and James McVinnie will present Infinity Gradient at the Maison symphonique, utilizing one hundred speakers to turn the hall into a massive sonic instrument.
Global Perspectives and Future Sounds
MUTEK remains committed to spotlighting the global electronic avant-garde. The program includes performances by chiquitamagic, gyrofield, and Nazar, each bringing unique cultural perspectives to the festival. Club-focused artists such as Ben UFO and Barker will also feature, alongside experimental acts like Polygonia, JakoJako, and Purelink.

MUTEK Forum and Ticket Information
Running concurrently with the music program, the MUTEK Forum will take place from August 26–28, expanding into the Atrium and Studio-Théâtre of Les Grands Ballets and Agora de la Danse. The forum serves as a hub for professionals to discuss the future of creativity in the digital age.
Tickets for the festival are currently available, with the Festival + Forum Passport priced at $420. For more information and to view the full program, visit montreal.mutek.org.
