New 150-capacity nightclub Gaffe is opening in South London this weekend

New South London nightclub Gaffe is set to launch this weekend, after Lambeth Council approved a license application for the 150-capacity space.

Located close to Wandsworth Road Station, the new venue aims to provide a “community hub” in South London.

With a focus on music events at weekends, owners say they hope to host a diverse array of events on weekdays, such as “photography sessions and DJ workshops to yoga classes and creative meetups.”

Fitted with a Funktion-One sound system and an “immersive” layout, the new venue will launch this Saturday (February 1) with a “Gaffe Presents” featuring sets from Hodge, Danielle and Parris.

According to The Evening Standard, Gaffe had its license application denied in 2024, following concerns from local residents over noise and “broken glass” left outside following events.

Launched as a temporary event space, owners were given the greenlight to open permanently this week after councillors withdrew their objections over its operation — approving a license to open until 3:20AM on Fridays and Saturdays under the condition the venue increases its security presence and incorporates ID scanners.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to finally have our permanent license, cementing our place as a dedicated space for grassroots electronic music and wider arts culture in South London,” a spokesperson for Gaffe told Mixmag.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the warm reception from the community, and it’s been amazing to see Gaffe become a hub for creative expression,” they add. “Hosting everything from cutting-edge lighting installations to providing a welcoming and safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and others who may not always feel comfortable in traditional nightclub environments.”

Since the venue launched last year under its temporary event notice, it has hosted the likes of Lukas Wigflex, KT, Bobby, Ted Amber and many more.
