Orsay & Kotiēr Deliver Afro House Masterpiece ‘1886’ on Abracadabra

A Transcontinental Collaboration

Kick off your week with an absolute heater that bridges the sonic landscapes of Paris and Ibiza. Producers Orsay and Kotiēr have officially joined forces for their latest collaborative effort, ‘1886’, a track that is already making significant waves on BLOND:ISH‘s respected Abracadabra imprint.

The genesis of the track was as organic as the final product sounds. According to Kotiēr, the project began simply as a friendship. “‘1886’ with Orsay began as a friendship,” he shared. “We met in Paris last May, and one afternoon I walked into his flat when he was playing with some unusual synth sounds. Something about it immediately captivated me. I sat down next to him at his laptop and we started throwing ideas around, gradually filling out the track together. We are thrilled it found a home on Abracadabra.”

The Sound of ‘1886’

At its core, ‘1886’ is a masterclass in modern Afro House production. It features the genre’s signature rhythmic “oomph” paired with some of the warmest sub-bass textures currently available in the electronic music space. The track builds momentum through a sophisticated arrangement of offbeat plucks and analogue leads, all while maintaining a sense of tension that feels both timeless and forward-thinking.

The inclusion of a nostalgic vocal element adds a layer of depth, effectively transporting the listener back a couple of decades while keeping the dancefloor firmly rooted in the present. It is a rare example of a track that balances simplicity with intricate sound design, making it a strong contender for Afro House tune of the year.

The track has been on heavy rotation for many since its release this past Friday, and it is easy to hear why. Its ability to evolve through subtle changes and playful textures makes it an essential addition to any curated playlist.
