San Francisco Free Concerts Announce Daytime Disco in Union Square
Independent San Francisco Bay Area live-entertainment company Another Planet Entertainment, in conjunction with the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, is excited to announce the next installment of their free concert series for 2026: the return of Daytime Disco in Union Square. This branded party, led by the recording project of producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Poolside—also known as Jeffrey Paradise—is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The event will feature a headline performance by Poolside alongside a curated selection of special electronic guests. This ongoing concert series, spearheaded by APE, aims to ensure that downtown San Francisco remains a vibrant destination for live music, entertainment, and the arts.
A Legacy of Sunny Vibes
Following its successful debut last year, the Daytime Disco event in Union Square is special by design. The city holds a significant place in the history of the project; it is where Jeffrey Paradise called home for years, first as an SFSU alumnus and later as a DJ and promoter for the famed Blow Up SF parties. Poolside began in a converted Los Angeles backyard pool house in early 2011, when Paradise set out on a low-stakes journey to produce chill music for summer soirees—a light, danceable sound with sunny vibes and liquid rhythm that he dubbed “Daytime Disco.”
The moniker eventually inspired a weekly Spotify playlist, which now boasts nearly 43,000 followers. This digital success became the catalyst for live Daytime Disco parties that have graced stages at Coachella’s DoLab and the iconic Castro Theatre.
A Commitment to Public Spaces
Poolside has released five acclaimed albums, including Pacific Standard Time (2012), Heat (2017), Low Season (2020), High Season (2021), and Blame It All On Love (2023). Beyond his studio work, Paradise has remixed high-profile acts such as Billy Idol, Jack Johnson & Milky Chance, and The Revivalists, while touring the globe as a formidable six-piece live band.
Geared toward revitalizing the city through music, Another Planet Entertainment has been deeply involved in producing public area shows. Beyond the upcoming Daytime Disco party, APE and the City of San Francisco have collaborated on events like Empire 15 at Civic Center and the Bay & Boots series at Embarcadero Plaza. Mayor Daniel Lurie noted, “Free live music in Union Square on a Sunday afternoon is San Francisco at its best. This free concert with Poolside will bring people downtown, fill our public spaces with energy, and give residents and visitors another reason to enjoy our incredible city.”
