Sex Pistols announce commemorative God Save The Queen coin and NFT
The punk band is also re-releasing their 1977 single God Save The Queen.
To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which takes place across a four-day weekend in the UK from 2-5 June, Sex Pistols have announced a nickel-plated Pistol Mint commemorative coin. The piece features artwork by Jamie Reid with his Sex Pistols Union Jack design on one side of the coin and Reid’s likeness of the Queen with a safety-pin lip piercing on the reverse.
The commemorative coin also comes with a digital counterpart. The NFT collection will feature a selection of designs which are allocated randomly upon minting. For the NFTs they are working with the Palm network which offers a more sustainable option for NFT releases.
Ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubliee celebrations this week, which marks 70 years of Elizabeth II’s reign, Sex Pistols have also announced the reissue of their single God Save The Queen. The track, which was originally released via Virgin in May 1977, celebrates its 45th anniversary this year.
The God Save The Queen coin is available via the Sex Pistols’ website for a limited period throughout June 2022.
