Swedish House Mafia announce home furnishing collaboration with IKEA
Swedish House Mafia have announced a collaboration with Swedish furniture and homeware giant, IKEA.
The electronic supergroup, who recently performed their comeback singles ‘It Gets Better’ and ‘Lifetime’ at the VMAs, have revealed that the forthcoming collaboration with IKEA will explore “music and creativity at home”.
“At IKEA we are keen to find a solution to the problems many music fans are facing,” a press release reads. “That’s why we are teaming up with Swedish House Mafia, one of the most successful artists in the electronic music industry with a strong background in music production. Together we want to explore how we can enable the many music creators and lovers to be more creative at home.”
The collection will launch in September 2022, and will consist of home furnishings designed to make it easier to “get into a creative flow” for producing, playing and listening to music in the home.
“We strongly felt a need to collaborate with someone who shared our vision of making it possible for everyone to create music at home,” the trio said of their work with IKEA. “As artists and producers, we also understand the importance of a home studio set-up and the needs and challenges of many up-and-coming artists and creatives have at home.”
Further details and prices are yet to be revealed, but James Futcher, Product Design Leader at IKEA of Sweden, said the collection will “enable people to create the perfect home studio for an afforable price”.
Elsewhere, earlier this week, IKEA hosted a 24-hour virtual festival featuring the likes of Loraine James, ZULI, TOKiMONSTA, and Kaytranada. More than 100 homes were used as venues during the event, which was available to watch online and in-store. Check out the highlights here.
