Woman Hospitalized After Chandelier Part Hits Crowd in Berlin Nightclub

At a nightclub in Berlin, a dangerous incident unfolded on Friday night when part of a large overhead chandelier detached and crashed into the dance floor crowd. The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on November 28 at the Metropol venue during a performance by German DJ and producer David Puentez.

According to witnesses, a lightbulb and its socket from an overhead chandelier fell into the audience during the show. A 30-year-old woman suffered head injuries that required her to be hospitalized for treatment. Another attendee, a man, received a laceration to his upper arm.

Club staff were immediately notified by guests, halted the music, evacuated the area directly beneath the chandelier, and ultimately canceled the rest of the event.

On an Instagram story, the club stated: “We are sorry that there was an incident in the framework of the event [with] David Puentez on Friday, in which people were also injured.”

David Puentez also posted a story mentioning that the show had to end early for everyone’s safety and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
