Daft Punk album sales increase 2,650% after break-up
Daft Punk album sales have increased 2,650% after the duo’s split.
On Monday this week (22nd), French duo Daft Punk, made up of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, announced they would be calling it quits after 28 years in the business.
Since announcing their split, Rolling Stone’s analtyic provider, Alpha Data, reports that streams for Daft Punk’s catalog soared nearly 500% on Monday compared to Sunday, with song sales up 1,335%, and digital album sales up 2,650%. Their most recent album, ‘Random Access Memories’, was the best-selling dance music album on vinyl of the decade.
The news comes one day after it was revealed that Daft Punk’s ‘Homework’ and ‘Alive 1997’ LPs had been repressed and will be released via EMI today (25th February).
‘Homework’ features some of Daft Punk’s most iconic tracks, including ‘Da Funk’, ‘Around The World’, ‘Revolution 909′ and ‘Rollin’ & Scratchin’. ‘Alive 1997’ was recorded on the duo’s first ever European tour, and was originally reissued in 2014.
