The first grime colouring book is being released this month
The first grime colouring book, ‘NANG’, is being released this month, featuring some of the scene’s most prominent artists in a 40-page adventure created by Aaron Huston and Zeb Thomas.
Names including The Streets’ Mike Skinner, Big Narstie, Kano, D Double E, Novelist, Lady Leshurr, and Stormzy all feature in the publication, which arrives on Thursday 16th July and can be ordered directly from the book’s official website. The contents celebrate the last two decades of grime culture and music, from the genre’s roots through to the present day.
Huston is better known by his moniker Ears, and played a prominent role in the formative years of the UK-born sound, including involvement in Jammer’s Neckle Camp crew, and has worked with the likes of Wiley and Skepta. Thomas is a London-based tattoo artist and graphic designer who has been responsible for a number of famous album covers.
An animated video trailer has been released ahead of ‘NANG’ going on sale, which features Ears and Jme. In June, a new documentary focused on the Birmingham grime scene landed on Amazon Music and Amazon Prime, while the latest instalment of DJ Mag’s Meet The MC series centres on rising female lyricist Nova, the first grime artist ever to win Scottish Album of the Year.
