VISION Celebrates Two Decades of Forward-Thinking Bass Music with a 40-Track Compilation
The legendary bass music label VISION has just hit their 20th anniversary, and they’re celebrating in style – with a massive compilation.
What began as a space for bass music pioneers Noisia to explore ideas without compromise has, over two decades, evolved into a platform defined by ambition, meticulous sound design, and long-term thinking. The anniversary release reflects that evolution with clarity, presenting a carefully curated selection of tracks that mark key moments in the label’s trajectory rather than attempting to document every chapter.
Condensing twenty years of music into a single tracklist was no simple task. Certain periods were so densely packed with influential releases that maintaining balance across the years became a challenge in itself. The final selection focuses on what the founders describe as absolute essentials, cross-referenced collectively to ensure the compilation reflects the full arc of VISION’s development. By deliberately excluding remixes and releases from their Division and Invisible imprints, the focus remains firmly on the label’s core identity.
The tracklist traces a clear narrative, moving from Noisia’s early milestones such as “Tommy’s Theme” and “Diplodocus” through pivotal releases like “Dead Limit”, “Foundations”, and “Running Blind”, before opening out into later material that reflects a broader creative field. Alongside Noisia’s own work, tracks by artists including IMANU, Mefjus, The Upbeats, Buunshin, Sleepnet, gyrofield, Billain, Posij, Rohaan, Hamdi, and Thys illustrate how VISION gradually shifted from a single-act outlet into a shared platform for forward-thinking bass music.
Following the conclusion of Noisia as a trio, VISION has continued strong with the same underlying principles. The label remains strongly artist-focused, prioritising creative risk and depth over short-term visibility. That philosophy extends into its events and hosted festival stages, where context, diversity, and intent matter more than scale. Twenty years on, this compilation stands not only as a reflection of what VISION has released, but as a statement of how it continues to think, operate, and look forward.
The compilation is out now on all platforms, and for you vinyl listeners, there’s a box set available on their website. This is a bass music lover’s dream, and we can’t wait to see what VISION does next.
