Armin van Buuren Revives His Rising Star Alias for ‘Take Me Home’ Remix
Armin van Buuren has dusted off one of his most beloved aliases. Just a week after releasing ‘Take Me Home’, his trance reimagining of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘By The Way’, he has delivered an official remix under his Rising Star moniker, and it is out now.
The Rising Star version stretches the record out with a longer breakdown and adds a second trance melody after the first chorus, which then carries through into the drop. That extra layer pushes the tempo up to 140 BPM, giving Poppy Baskcomb’s vocal a more driving, classic trance setting than the original version released on September 25.
The Legacy of Rising Star
For long-time fans, the alias carries real weight. Rising Star is one of Armin van Buuren’s earliest projects, dating back to the end of the 1990s, when he used it for a more melodic and emotional side of his trance sound. The name first made its mark with ‘Touch Me’, followed in 2002 by ‘Clear Blue Moon’ and ‘Star Theme’. In the years since, he has brought it back for vocal records such as ‘Safe Inside You’ and ‘Again’ with Betsie Larkin, ‘Cosmos’ with Alexandra Badoi and ‘The Voice’ with Cari.
Rising Star has also become a byword for his remix work. Over the years, Armin has used the name to rework tracks including Gouryella’s ‘Walhalla’, Ayumi Hamasaki’s ‘Appears’, Alibi’s ‘Eternity’ with Tiësto, and his own classics ‘Shivers’ and ‘Yet Another Day’. Whenever the alias returns, it usually means one thing: uplifting, melody-first trance built for the peak of the night.
A Tradition of Excellence
This latest remix fits neatly into that tradition, and continues a year in which Armin has reworked several classics, from Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’ to this Red Hot Chili Peppers moment. Stream the remix below.
