Armin van Buuren & Douwe Bob join forces on ‘What If I Told You’

Armin van Buuren has teamed up with Dutch singer-songwriter Douwe Bob for a new single, ‘What If I Told You’. Out now via Armada Music in collaboration with Breaking Records, the track brings together Armin’s electronic sound and Douwe Bob’s country-influenced songwriting. This collaboration marks a significant moment for both artists as they explore new creative territories together.

Fans in Amsterdam got an early taste of the Armin van Buuren and Douwe Bob collaboration before its official release. The pair debuted the single live in front of 40,000 people at the Johan Cruijff ArenA during AMF on October 24, one of the flagship events of Amsterdam Dance Event. The track was also premiered on Radio 538, and the duo performed it live on the Dutch TV show Eva Jinek.

A Creative Synergy

The song originated from a late-night moment of inspiration for Douwe Bob, who immediately envisioned Armin as the ideal collaborator. “It felt like the perfect moment to finally create something together,” Armin said. “It brings back some of the feeling of ‘This Is What It Feels Like’, but with a fresh perspective that feels very true to where we are today.”

For Douwe Bob, the collaboration represents a bold first step into the world of dance music. “I always knew that if I ever stepped outside my own genre and into dance music, Armin would be the person I’d want to work with,” he noted. “Life is about taking chances, and that’s exactly what this song is about.”

Musical Backgrounds

Douwe Bob rose to fame after winning the first edition of De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland in 2012 and represented the Netherlands at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Slow Down’, reaching the grand final. In 2024, he was the most played Dutch artist on national radio, and in 2025 his project The Story of Country at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw sold out in three hours.
