Andrew Weatherall charity t-shirt goes on sale to raise money for multiple causes
A run of charity t-shirts and sweaters printed in memory of the late Andrew Weatherall are on sale.
As part of a fundraising effort from Weatherall’s friend and production partner Keith Tenniswood, the merch, which is on sale now via the Rotters Golf Club bandcamp, features a ‘Love and Sabres’ emblem and photo of Weatherall in silver glitter print.
50% of the money from the sales will be donated to charities and food banks that Weatherall supported throughout his life and career, including Amnesty International, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Thrombosis UK, Crisis and The Trussel Trust. The remaining 50% will be donated to Weatherall’s partner, Lizzie.
You can order the merch here.
Born in 1963, Weatherall became a prominent figure in the acid house scene as a DJ in the late 80s, and was picked up by Danny Rampling to play frequenct sets at his club, Shoom. As a producer and remixer, Weatherall became renowned for his work with and for Paul Oakenfold, Björk, New Order, The Orb, The Future Sound of London and My Bloody Valentine. Weatherall’s production work on Primal Scream’s ‘Screamadelica’ alongside Terry Farley saw the album become a critical and commerical success, winning the first ever Mercury Music Prize in 1992.
Weatherall released his debut solo EP, ‘The Bullet Catcher’s Apprentice’ in 2006, followed by his debut LP, ‘A Pox on the Pioneers’ in 2009. As active and sought-after a DJ as he’d ever been, Weatherall had been scheduled to play numerous festivals and shows in 2020 before his death in February last year.
