Between the Lines announces 2022 programme
The experimental festival series returns for its first live edition post-pandemic.
Originally launched as a two-day series at Corsica Studios in 2019, Between the Lines is set to take place across east London venues this September. The first show in the series this autumn will see Beatrice Dillon perform with Indian tabla player Kuljit Bhamra at Hackney’s EartH Theatre. Support for this event comes from collaborative duo Exotic Sin.
On the 16 September at St Mattias Church, British-Iranian turntablist Mariam Rezaei will continue her collaborations with Iraqi improv vocalist Alya Al-Sultani, following on from their previous performance together at Café Oto in 2021 which was recorded and released on the venue’s Takuroku label. That night will also see contemporary avant-garde composers Jennifer Walshe and Neil Luck present their experimental work Wack.
Concluding the run of shows in September, multi-disciplinary artist Joviale is slated to perform at Moth Club on 28 September. Head here for tickets.
For the 2020 and 2021 editions, Between the Lines held online and hybrid socially distanced events featuring the likes of Coby Sey, Gazelle Twin, Maria Somerville and former Collections vol.2 cover star Loraine James.
