Bogdan Raczynski announces first new album in 15 years on Planet Mu
Polish-American producer Bogdan Raczynski will release his first album of new material in 15 years via Planet Mu this March.
Titled ‘ADDLE’, the eight-track record sees the producer, previously described as one of Aphex Twin’s favourite artists, moving away from the jungle sound of past material and occupying a more meditative space previously explored by Raczynski on 2001’s ‘myloveilove’ album.
Speaking about the change of tack in a statement, Raczynski said: “Calm is great. You need to take a breather in the eye of the storm now and then. But the real growth happens in turbulence, when your feelings oscillate in and out of sync.
“It’s not dry land you’re after. You’re trying to build a new island while on a piddly raft. Beleaguered and weary you lay the foundation with your bare hands while the rain lashes your back; a new place for you and yours to moor yourself to until the next storm hits. ‘ADDLE’ is about that storm, its adjacent periphery, and what you look like, in and out, when you set foot. As space and time push against you, that process of adapting becomes an anchor. Among that state of being addled, out of flow, seemingly untethered, there is beauty.”
Its release follows on from a collection of cuts from Raczynski’s archives, ‘Rave ‘Til You Cry’, coming out in 2019.
‘ADDLE’ is out on 18th March. Listen to the two opening tracks below.
The album will be Planet Mu’s second release of 2022, following on from the announcement last week of a new album from Gábor Lázár, which is out next month.
