Burna Boy teams up with Havana Club for limited edition bottle
The new Havana Club 7 design is inspired by the Nigerian artist’s homeland.
Former Crack Magazine cover star Burna Boy is collaborating with Cuban rum brand Havana Club to release the limited edition bottle. Taking inspiration from the traditional headwear of South Nigeria, the label features a colourful Aso Oke – a hand-woven cloth created by the Yoruba people and often worn at celebrations – with tassels. The design also features Burna Boy’s name written on the top with a palm leaf crown paying tribute to the African Union emblem.
Alongside the bottle, Havana Club has created a short film with Burna Boy, elaborating on the collaboration uplifting Nigerian artists and the connection to this through the African Giant’s design which is interwoven with his roots. Speaking on this project, the artist – real name Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu – said, “It takes a great person to overcome daily trials and tribulations, and an even greater person to intentionally decide that life is for living,” adding, “as we share in the beauty of culture, community and heritage, let’s celebrate in united liberations. Please remember that you are a GIANT, today and always.”
Burna Boy’s Havana Club 7 will be available in the UK exclusively to convenience stores and ecomm during July.
