Carl Cox Announces World Debut Of New “Evolution” Live Show For Ultra Miami 2025

Carl Cox has shared new details on his performance at the upcoming edition of Ultra Miami in 2025.

When Ultra’s flagship festival returns to its home at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami on March 28-30, the techno icon and longtime Ultra player will celebrate the event’s milestone 25th anniversary with the world debut of his new “Evolution” live show.

Closing out a takeover of Ultra’s underground-leaning RESISTANCE megastructure stage by his globe-trotting “Carl Cox Invites” brand, the headline performance will mark Cox’s first-ever fully live Ultra set following his mesmerizing three-hour Hybrid Live performances at the festival’s 2022 and 2023 editions.

“This means I’ll be playing my music live on stage, using a combination of hardware and software to create and manipulate sounds in real-time,” Cox wrote of the Evolution performance on Instagram today. “Unlike a DJ set with pre-recorded tracks, or my hybrid set that combines elements of live performance and DJing, I’ll be crafting and evolving the music live, adding an extra layer of spontaneity and energy to the performance.”

“This is something I’ve been planning for a long time, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring it to life. I promised you all something special in honor of their 25th anniversary, and this is it!” Cox continued, referencing the heartfelt message he penned to Ultra attendees after missing out on the 2024 edition.

The British maestro has played the festival 19 times in 22 years, dating back to Ultra Miami’s third edition in 2001. In 2005, Ultra broke new ground by inviting Cox to curate his very own stage, “Carl Cox & Friends.” Once a small tent, the stage is now known as the festival’s world-famous RESISTANCE stage and has established Ultra as a premier underground tastemaker over the last two decades.

Though Cox has curated numerous stage takeovers at Ultra through the years, Ultra Miami 2025 will mark the festival’s first “Carl Cox Invites” takeover. Alongside Cox’s anchoring “Evolution” performance, the bill features Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin’s new “DEX EFX X0X” live show, Dubfire’s “EVOLV” audiovisual show, and further live performances from Stephan Bodzin, Joris Voorn, Marc Romboy, and Carl Cox B2B Christopher Coe.
