Frankie Knuckles' birthday honoured with remastered Robin S and Inaya Day duet by Director's Cut: Listen

SoSure Music is this week marking what would have been Frankie Knuckles’ 67th birthday with the release of a track from the Director’s Cut project, of which he formed one-half.

Around the time of Knuckles’ passing in March 2014, he and long-term studio collaborator Eric Kupper, who made up Director’s Cut together, were producing a concept album for American singer Inaya Day. One of the tracks on the album, which remained unfinished upon his death, also featured Robin S and was titled ‘Right Now’.

It appeared originally as an album exclusive on the ‘Tales From Beyond The Tone Arm’ compilation in 2012, but is now receiving a standalone release 10 years later to coincide with Knuckles’ birthday. It’s newly available now as a digital download, as well as on streaming platforms, with remixes and a 12″ vinyl release set to arrive later in the year.

You can purchase the track here, and stream it below.

The release follows on from a newly discovered track by Knuckles, ‘I Want The Love Of My Own’, coming out last summer.

Last July, four of his unreleased remixes got a vinyl reissue and 5000 records from his collection went on display in a New York gallery.
