IDLES and Portishead announce Bristol fundraiser show for Ukraine

The bands have announced a one off benefit concert in collaboration with War Child UK.

IDLES and Portishead will perform at O2 Bristol Academy on the May Bank Holiday (2 May). This will be Portishead’s first live show since 2015. Other acts playing the show include fellow Bristol post-punks Heavy Lungs, Katy J Pearson, Willy J Healey, Billy Nomates and Wïlderman.

Tickets will be available via a £10 prize draw, with winners chosen at random. Entry for tickets opens from 12pm today (7 April) and full details can be found here. The show will also be live streamed.

Sharing the news on socials today (7 April) IDLES wrote: “We’re joining forces with @warchilduk, raising funds for Ukraine. We believe that nobody should endure war, especially children.”

Proceeds from the show will be donated to support the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Match funding from the UK government will go towards supporting children affected by the continued conflict in Yemen.
