Lollapalooza Announces Virtual Lineup Of New And Historic Performances
This year Lollapalooza cancelled their in-person event due to COVID-19. However, that won’t stop the nearly 30 year old festival from carrying on virtually. A four-night event was announced that will stream for free on YouTube. The weekend will include fresh sets from Alison Wonderland, ZHU, Kaskade, Louis The Child, NGHTMRE, H.E.R. and many more. Lolla is also generously including treasured sets from the archives from Metallica, Outkast, LCD Soundsystem, and Run The Jewels. Long time sponsor Toyota will also be back for its eighth year of the Toyota Music Den with performances from DaniLeigh, mxmtoon, Masego and Princess Nokia. Overall, over 150 performances are included in the lineup.
On top of the music performances, conversations with Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot, LL Cool J and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell can be found throughout the weekend. Farrell will host candid conversations with iconic friends and tastemakers including Lars Ulrich, Chuck D, Matt Pinfield and more. He’ll also lead a special Kind Heaven Orchestra performance featuring Taylor Hawkins, a David Bowie tribute with pianist Mike Garson, the first Porno for Pyros reunion in 24 years, and a few other special surprises. Michelle Obama and Bryan Stevenson will also be joining the stream to help promote the incredible organizations When We All Vote, Equal Justice Initiative, and Arts for Illinois Relief Fund. These highlights once again prove that Lollapalooza strives to inspire, connect and uplift our communities.
Catch the stream starting Friday July 30th at 5:00pm CT on Lolla.com and Lollapalooza’s YouTube Page.
