Pussy Riot, D Double E and Audiobooks announced for Llais 2022
The Wales-based international arts festival – fka the Festival of Voice – has revealed more acts for its upcoming edition.
Taking place in Cardiff from 26-30 October, Llais has confirmed that Russian punk art collective Pussy Riot will perform. The group will bring their Riot Days show to the festival. Also joining the bill is duo Audiobooks and grime MC, producer and DJ D Double E. The latter headlines the Weston Studio at the Wales Millenium Centre with a line-up of local Welsh MCs supporting the show, including Swansea rapper Marino and Pennines-based drill artist Sage Todz.
These latest additions for Llais 2022 join previously announced acts Black Midi, Bristol outfit Tara Clerkin Trio, Cate Le Bon and jazz pianist Abdullah Ibrahim. John Cale is also set to appear for a one-off performance with Sinfonia Cymru and special guests. Other acts on the programme include Les Amazones d’Afrique, Midlake and Bombino.
Filmmaker Darren Emerson also brings his immersive In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats project – a virtual reality experience focused on the acid house movement. There will also be virtual reality piece Flight, which explores quantum mechanics, and immersive film installation No Place Like (Flat) Holm.
Llais Festival 2022 comes to the Wales Millenium Centre from 26-30 October, kicking off with hosting the Welsh Music Prize ceremony. For further information and tickets, head to the Llais website.
