Tomorrowland Launches ZONE 5 Run & Rave Event in Antwerp

Tomorrowland is teaming up with Lucky Stride Running Club to launch ZONE 5, a new concept that pairs a social 5K run with a daytime rave. The inaugural edition is set to take place in Antwerp on Saturday, August 29, with approximately 3,000 participants expected to join the movement.

The event format is designed to be accessible and engaging. Runners will follow a curated route through the city before crossing the finish line, which leads directly into a purpose-built arena designed by the Tomorrowland team. Once inside, participants will enjoy a two-hour alcohol-free rave featuring performances by Emilija b2b Alycia Bezgo and Dimitri Vegas. The event schedule is tight and efficient: doors open at 9:00 am, the run commences at 10:00 am, and the festivities conclude by 1:00 pm.

A New Era of Active Entertainment

Tomorrowland has previously experimented with similar experiences surrounding its flagship festival, having hosted runs featuring artists like John Summit, Steve Aoki, and Armin van Buuren. However, ZONE 5 marks the first time this specific concept is being brought to Belgium as a standalone event, with the expertise of the Lucky Stride Running Club ensuring a high-quality course experience.

The 5K is intentionally non-competitive, focusing on the collective experience rather than speed. Stijn De Rooster, Alderman for Sports for the City of Antwerp, highlighted the significance of this approach: “Sport is constantly evolving and reaching people in new ways. ZONE 5 shows that movement can be about much more than competition. It brings people together, promotes an active lifestyle and creates a unique atmosphere where sport, music and community reinforce one another.”

The Science Behind the Name

The name “ZONE 5” is derived from endurance training terminology, referring to the highest heart rate zone where intensity and adrenaline peak. This concept serves as the thematic through-line for the entire event, mirroring the energy shift from the physical exertion of the run to the high-octane atmosphere of the closing set.

Looking ahead, Tomorrowland and Lucky Stride are positioning this event as a scalable format. While Antwerp serves as the launchpad, there are clear intentions to expand the ZONE 5 experience to other European cities in the near future. Pre-registration is currently open at zone5.world, with an exclusive pre-sale beginning on July 14 at €39, followed by a general sale on July 16 at €45.
