UK Music Video Awards reveals this year’s nominees
The annual awards programme for music video creativity has announced its shortlist for 2022.
This year sees FKA twigs lead with eight nominations. Her music video for Tears in The Club, featuring The Weeknd, is up for five different categories, including Best Choreography, Best Wardrobe Styling and a nod in the UK R&B/Soul section. The shortlist also features six nominations for both Little Simz and Black Midi.
Former Crack Magazine cover stars Fontaines D.C. are contenders for Best Live Video with their performance of Jackie Down The Line on The Tonight Show. The 2022 nominations also include a nod to Arca and Kendrick Lamar for Best VFX in Prada/Rakata and The Heart Part 5 respectively, as well as recognising filmmaker and screenwriter Edem Wornoo in the running for Best New Director.
Elsewhere, Collections Vol.1 cover star Kylie Minogue gets a nod for Kiss Of Life with Jessie Ware as a contender for Best Pop Video alongside the likes of Harry Styles and Arlo Parks. The shortlist also features IDLES‘ Crawl!, which is up for Best Animation in a Video and Best Rock Video UK.
In the running for the UK Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Video category there’s Little Simz’ Shoot and Kill featuring Obongjayar – which is also nominated for four other categories – plus Dave’s Verdansk and two nominations for Jeshi, including 3210 which was directed and edited by Bristol-based visual artist Will Dohrn.
The UK Music Video Awards ceremony will take place on 27 October at new London venue Magazine. Head here for the full list of nominees.
