Faithless celebrate 30 years of ‘Insomnia’ with special 12-inch vinyl release
Faithless mark three decades of their legendary anthem Insomnia with a brand-new 12-inch zoetrope vinyl, released exclusively today for RSD Black Friday 2025 via Sony. Although the track already earned iconic status, this anniversary edition brings a fresh collectible that mirrors the original 1995 Cheeky Records sleeve while showcasing new rotating artwork inspired by the single’s visual identity.
The new pressing includes the original 12-inch version alongside the Monster Mix, Moody Mix, and Tuff Mix. Moreover, the release arrives shortly after Disclosure unveiled their 2025 edit of Insomnia during their Glastonbury performance, introducing the classic to a new generation of ravers.
Across thirty years, Insomnia shaped countless dancefloors and influenced artists worldwide. With its pulsating bassline, piercing synths, and Maxi Jazz’s unmistakable spoken-word delivery, the track captured both the intensity and introspection of 90s club culture. Additionally, its slow climb into mainstream consciousness marked an era where underground records could break through on a global scale. After early radio hesitation, support from champions such as Pete Tong helped propel the track into the charts, eventually climbing to #3 in the UK and topping dance charts across Europe and North America.
Sister Bliss reflected on the milestone, calling Insomnia a defining hymn for their fans and career. She noted how the song opened doors for their debut album Reverence and helped shape the band’s transition into a worldwide touring act.
Following a year of sold-out headline shows and the release of their eighth studio album Champion Sound, Faithless continue to honor both their past and the legacy of Maxi Jazz, whose voice remains woven into the group’s story. With this new anniversary edition, Insomnia once again proves why it stands as one of dance music’s most enduring records.
