fabric announces fundraiser for former promoter Shaun Roberts

The likes of Annie Mac, Daniel Avery and Andy C will DJ at the event, with proceeds going towards Roberts’ cancer treatment in Europe.

Farringdon venue fabric is throwing a fundraising event for former promotions manager Shaun Roberts.

The party, dubbed ‘A Dance For Shaun’, will take place on 18 November and raise funds for Roberts’ life-extending cancer treatment at the CeGat Clinic in Tubingen, Germany. Annie Mac, Chemical Brothers, Andy C, Chase & Status, Daniel Avery, Shy FX and Fatboy Slim are set to DJ at the event, with GQ and Stamina MC, among others, locked in as hosts.

Roberts worked at fabric for 16 years and played an instrumental role in its FabricLive nights, held on Friday’s. He was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer in 2019 and has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy in the years since. Earlier this month, he launched a GoFundMe campaign with an aim to raise money for cancer treatment outside of the UK. The campaign has raised over £145,000.

“The chemotherapy is still working well but beating cancer is not an option for me now so the name of the game is to stay alive as long as possible,” explained Roberts in the campaign post. “The NHS have been amazing and will continue to look after me but I’ve pretty much run out of options for further treatment with them outside of chemotherapy. I need to look further afield.” [sic]

“The future of cancer treatment would appear to be in immunotherapy and I want to join the program at the CeGat Clinic in Tubingen, Germany,” he added. “The goal will be to train my body to recognise cancer in my system and actively fight it – something that the body doesn’t do naturally. This alongside chemotherapy will hopefully increase my odds of being around to get on your nerves for a while longer.” [sic]
