Glastonbury announces 2022 Emerging Talent Competition
Glastonbury Festival organisers have announced this year’s Emerging Talent Competition.
The annual event shines a light on rising talent and offers unsigned artists from the UK and Ireland the chance to play a slot on one of the main stages at the much-loved festival. Artists from any genre are encouraged to apply, with the winners also receiving a £5,000 Talent Development prize from PRS Foundation. Two runners-up will each be awarded £2,500 talent development bursaries.
Speaking on the competition’s return, Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis said: “We’re so happy to announce the return of the Emerging Talent Competition, which is always one of the first big markers that another Glastonbury is on its way. The competition has helped us unearth so much amazing music over the years and I’m really excited to hear this year’s crop of entries!”
Artists can enter the 2022 competition from 9am (GMT) on 31 January until 5pm (GMT) on 7 February via the official Glastonbury website. To enter, acts need to share a link to an original song hosted on SoundCloud, plus attach a video of themselves performing live. This can be recorded anywhere.
Glastonbury Festival returns from 22–26 June. Billie Eilish will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night, making her the festival’s youngest ever solo headliner.
