Beyoncé features Big Freedia and samples Show Me Love on new track, Break My Soul
Beyoncé has released the first track from her upcoming new album Renaissance, slated for release on 29 July.
The new single Break My Soul features a sample from Robin S’s 1990 house hit Show Me Love as well as including vocals from Big Freedia. The New Orleans artist’s verse on Beyoncé’s track is taken from her own release Explode where she raps, “Release ya anger/Release ya mind/Release ya job/Release the time/Release ya trade/Release ya stress/Release the love/Forget the rest.”
In response to the guest feature, Big Freedia expressed her excitement at the collaboration. “It feels surreal to be on the track with the Queen Beyoncé once again I’m so honored to be apart of this special moment I’m forever grateful lord,” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time the pair has worked together. Big Freedia appeared on Formation in 2016, from Beyoncé’s last album Lemonade. The New Orleans musician, best known for her contribution to the underground bounce movement in the early 90s, also featured on Charli XCX‘s 2019 record Charli.
